Two weeks ago Showtime opted not to air the Gilbert Melendez vs. Pat Healy Lightweight Title Event because Melendez suffered an injuring forcing him out of the main event. Without a TV outlet Zuffa decided to cancel the entire event.
Less than a week before that, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir, who was slated to fight Strikeforce fighter Daniel Cormier on Nov 3, was forced out of that bout with an injury as well.
Zuffa officials have been scrambling to find a replacement for Cormier to no avail and now the rumblings have begun that Strikeforce may finally cease to exist. AXS TV’s Kenny Rice addresses the issue with Bas Rutten on this week’s Inside MMA.
